The Toronto Maple Leafs are signing veteran defenceman John Klingberg to a one-year, $4.15-million deal, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports.
The 30-year-old rearguard spent the majority of his career with Dallas, logging eight years with the Stars before splitting the 2022-23 campaign between Anaheim and Minnesota.
While a member of the Stars, Klingberg established himself as one of the premier offensive defencemen in the game, putting up a career-best 67 points from the back end in 2017-18, and topping the 40-point mark five other times in Dallas.
He collected 47 points through 74 games in his last season with the Stars, before posting 10 goals and 33 points through 67 games split between the Ducks and Wild last season.
The Gothenburg native has averaged more than 20 minutes of ice in every season of his career — he averaged a career-low 20:37 in 2022-23.
