Two weeks after accepting a professional tryout agreement with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Stanley Cup winner Steven Lorentz has hit the bench.
The Leafs announced that the forward did not stake Friday due to an upper-body injury, and is considered day-to-day.
Following a highly successful 2023-24 season with the Florida Panthers, the Kitchener, Ont., native left as a free agent. Earlier this month, Lorentz accepted a PTO invitation with Toronto.
Last season, Lorentz tallied one goal and two assists in 38 regular season games with Florida. In the playoffs, he recorded three points in 16 outings to help the Panthers lift their first Stanley Cup.
Elsewhere, blueliner Simon Benoit has returned to the ice after missing Thursday's practice due to the birth of his first child.
