With the Toronto Maple Leafs struggling to get into the win column and Martin Jones seeing a heavy workload, Ilya Samsonov will get the start Sunday against the Seattle Kraken.
Samsonov last played on Jan. 14 against the Detroit Red Wings, making 20 saves but was unable to pick up the victory. It was Samsonov's first start since Dec. 29 after being waived and sidelined because of his struggles this season.
The 26-year-old has a 5-3-6 record this season with a 3.88 goals-against average and a .863 save percentage.
Jones has started 10 of the last 11 games for Toronto and gave up six goals on 21 shots. The 34-year-old has stepped in admirably with Samsonov struggling and Joseph Woll sidelined with an injury going 9-6-1 with a 2.64 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage in 17 games.
The Leafs conclude their road trip against the Kraken on Sunday night. Watch the game at 9 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. PT. on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
