The Toronto Maple Leafs woes on the backend continue after defenceman Victor Mete left Friday's morning skate after blocking a shot off his leg.
Mete was seen leaving the ice in pain after taking a Nick Robertson shot off his left leg and was not able to put much weight on it.
The 24-year-old was expected to play in pre-season action against the Detroit Red Wings. William Villeneuve was initially named to the roster for the game but did not take part in the morning skate and is expected to take Mete's spot in the lineup if he cannot play.
Rasmus Sandin is also scheduled to make his pre-season debut after signing a new deal that ended his holdout from training camp.
