Just when it seemed like William Nylander's star couldn't burn any brighter, the Toronto Maple Leafs winger is to be appear in a commercial for Rogers.
The Swede, who is currently in the NHL's top 10 for points and goals thanks in part to a 17-game point streak, is featured in a spot to promote Rogers bringing 5G cell phone service to Toronto's subway system. The commercial will air during Saturday's Maple Leafs game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Hockey Night in Canada. That game can be seen on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT.
In a behind-the-scenes look into the commercial, Nylander tells Sportsnet's Emily Agaard what led to his decision to ride the TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) to games, which caught the attention of Torontonians a few weeks back when he was spotted on the subway.
The commercial recreates that moment, with Nylander fielding a video call from his mother while riding the train, only to get berated by his sisters about how his tie looks.
