The Montreal Canadiens will be without defencemen Kaiden Guhle and Arber Xhekaj when they face the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night.
Guhle is listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury. Xhekaj also sustained an upper-body injury and a further update will come pending evaluation, the team said.
Guhle left during the first period of Thursday's 7-4 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning after he was checked hard into the end boards by Nikita Kucherov.
He has six goals and 16 assists in 70 games this season and is third on the team in ice time per game averaging 20:51 minutes.
Xhekaj has registered three goals and seven assists in 44 games.
The Canadiens recalled defenceman Justin Barron from the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League on an emergency basis.
Barron has played 41 games with the Canadiens this year scoring six goals and six assists. He also has two goals and nine assists in 30 games with the Rocket.
