The New Jersey Devils are bringing on former Philadelphia Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher as well as Andy Greene as advisors, also adding Manny Legace to their executive goaltending staff, the team announced Thursday.
Fletcher joins the organization as the senior advisor to general manager Tom Fitzgerald, who earlier this year had president of hockey operations added to his duties. Fletcher, who served as the Flyers general manager from 2018-23, will advise Fitzgerald on player personnel, scouting and contracts.
From 2009-18, Fletcher was general manager in Minnesota, guiding the Wild to six straight playoff appearances.
Fletcher and Fitzgerald also worked together as executives in Pittsburgh from 2006-09.
Greene has also been named advisor to hockey operations, among other duties with the Devils. He held a similar role as his schedule permitted over the past two seasons. In that time, he would work with the coaching and scouting staff at Devils practices. He will advise Fitzgerald on a full-time basis, in player personnel, coaching staff and scouting staff departments.
Greene, a former NHL player, retired in 2022 after signing a one-day contract with New Jersey, where he spent 14 of his 16 years in the NHL. Undrafted, he was signed by the Devils in 2006 as a free agent and went on to become the 11th captain in club history.
Former goaltender and Stanley Cup champion Legace has also been brought on as head amateur goaltending scout and development coach. He will work alongside executive vice president and Hall of Fame goaltender Martin Brodeur. Legace previously spent five seasons as the goaltending coach for the Columbus Blue Jackets.
