The New Jersey Devils have re-signed forward Erik Haula to a three-year contract worth $9.45 million, the team announced Friday.
With a cap hit of $3.15 million, the contract sees Haula make $3.9 million in 2023-24, $3.15 million in 2024-25 and $2.4 million in 2025-26.
Haula, 32, has been with the Devils just one season, recording 41 points (14 goals and 27 assists) in 80 games in 2022-23. The Devils acquired him via trade from the Boston Bruins last off-season, in exchange for Pavel Zacha.
"When I traded for Erik, we talked about how he was the type of player that we needed to help us continue to move the group forward," said Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald in a statement. "He played key minutes in all situations throughout the season -- power play, penalty kill, taking faceoffs -- and provided leadership for our team. At the end of the season, he told me how much he wanted to be a part of what we are building here in New Jersey, and I'm glad we could quickly get a deal done that gives him a place to lay down roots with his family."
In 10 NHL seasons, Haula has amassed 281 points (126 goals and 155 assists) in 614 career games. He has an additional 36 points (16 goals and 20 assists) in 73 career post-season games.
