The NHL has fined the Toronto Maple Leafs $100,000 for traveling to St. Louis for the team's game against the Blues outside of the NHL's mandated travel period.
The Leafs were in violation of Article 16.5(b) of the league's collective bargaining agreement which states:
No Club shall be required to travel on the day of an NHL Game if the average scheduled flight time for the airplane on which the Club would travel is greater than two and one-half (2 1/2) hours; provided, however, the foregoing shall not be applicable if the Club has played an NHL Game on the day before.
The fine money goes to the NHL Foundation.
Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe was also fined $25,000 for "demeaning conduct directed at the officials" during Tuesday's game.
