NHL to open 2022-23 season on Oct. 11, full schedule to come in July

As the NHL continues to work its way back to a normal calendar, commissioner Gary Bettman says that the 2022-23 season will begin on Oct. 11.

Bettman also added that the league will release the schedule in July, which includes the 2023 Winter Classic at Fenway Park in Boston, the 2023 NHL All-Star Game in South Florida and the Stadium Series game in Raleigh, N.C.

The NHL started the 2021-22 season on Oct. 12 and was able to play an entire 82-game schedule for the first time since the 2018-19 season after the last two seasons were shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bettman also announced that the league is on track for record revenues this season "in excess of $5.2 billion" but that the NHL doesn't anticipate any significant increases to the salary cap for another two to three seasons.
