The Edmonton Oilers are adding depth on defence.
Edmonton claimed defenceman Alec Regula off waivers from the Boston Bruins on Wednesday, the team announced.
The Bruins activated Regula off injured reserve, where he was placed to start the season after undergoing knee surgery, on Tuesday before placing him on waivers.
Regula, 24, has played 22 career NHL games since being taken in the third round (67th overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft by the Detroit Red Wings. The six-foot-four Regula has one goal in those 22 games, all of which were played with the Chicago Blackhawks.
Regula played junior hockey with the London Knights.
