Kasperi Kapanen is returning to Canada.
The Edmonton Oilers claimed the forward off waivers from the St. Louis Blues, the team announced Tuesday.
Kapanen started his NHL career with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2015-16 after they acquired him from the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Phil Kessel deal.
The 28-year-old Finland native had one goal in 10 games with the Blues this season. He signed a one-year, $1-million deal with the Blues before this season.
Kapanen has 85 goals and 124 assists for 209 points in 470 career games with the Leafs, Penguins and Blues.
The Penguins picked him 22nd overall in the 2014 NHL Draft.
