Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane was taken off LTIR on Tuesday and is expected to make his return from injury against the Seattle Kraken.
If Kane plays, it'll be his first game since he underwent emergency surgery for a cut on his wrist.
Kane suffered the injury on Nov. 8 after getting tangled with Lightning defenceman Philippe Myers and was subsequently cut by Tampa Bay forward Pat Maroon's skate blade after falling to the ice. Kane was transported to a hospital and underwent a procedure that night.
To allow for Kane's return and remain cap-compliant, the Oilers placed both Kailer Yamamoto and Ryan Murray on LTIR on Tuesday.
At the time of his injury, it was expected the 31-year-old Kane would be sidelined for three to four months. His return comes a little more than two months after his surgery.
Kane signed a four-year, $20.5-million contract with the Oilers in the off-season and has five goals and eight assists over 13 games in 2022-23.
Yamamoto is out with an undisclosed injury and is eligible to return after the NHL All-Star break. Murray has been sidelined since Nov. 21 with a back injury.
