An all-Canadian battle will highlight the National Hockey League schedule for Saturday night as the Edmonton Oilers visit the Vancouver Canucks as -140 road favourites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Edmonton hits the road looking to rebound after falling 5-3 to the visiting Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday night. That marked the team’s first defeat through six outings this season going into Saturday’s matchup at Rogers Arena.
With Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl leading the attack, the Oilers averaged 4.80 goals per game during the team’s season-opening five-game win streak. Edmonton’s superstar duo, along with new arrival Zach Hyman, have accounted for two thirds of the team’s scoring. However, with opponents potting five goals in two of the Oilers’ past four outings, a lack of offensive contributions from further down the lineup has become a concern.
The Canucks have scored just three total goals during their current two-game slide, and look to Saturday’s contest as +120 home underdogs at online sports betting sites. Vancouver has scored just 2.50 goals per game so far this season, and also scored just nine total goals while losing four of five games to Edmonton on home ice last season.
Earlier on Saturday, the Montreal Canadiens will be looking to build on Thursday’s 4-0 victory in San Jose as they visit the Los Angeles Kings at +100 on the NHL moneyline. The Canadiens have posted a pair of wins over their past three outings, ending a season-opening five-game losing streak. However, consistent offensive production remains a concern for Montreal, which has scored one or fewer goals in six of eight contests to date.
Losers in six straight games, the Kings look to bounce back when they hit the ice at Staples Center on Saturday night. Los Angeles has averaged just 1.67 goals per game during its current slide, fueling a 5-1 run for the UNDER on the betting totals. However, the Kings have also effectively contained the Canadiens’ attack in recent meetings, limiting Montreal to seven total goals over their past five matchups.
Elsewhere on the Saturday NHL odds, the Winnipeg Jets will be looking to close the gap on the top of the Central Division standings with a fifth straight win when they visit the Sharks in a matchup set as a pick’em at betting sites.
As well, the Toronto Maple Leafs will be looking to tally consecutive wins for the first time this season as they entertain the Detroit Red Wings as heavy -250 home chalk, while the Calgary Flames return home from a successful five-game Eastern Conference swing to face the Philadelphia Flyers as -150 betting favourites.
