Edmonton Oilers forward Mattias Janmark has been ruled out for the remainder of Game 1 after hitting his head against the boards Wednesday against the Vegas Golden Knights, the team announced.
The incident happened late in the first period as Janmark was tangled up with Golden Knights' William Carrier. After the two separated, he appeared to lose his balance, falling backward and head-first into the boards. Unsteady on his feet, he was assisted off the ice by a trainer and teammate Evander Kane.
This was the first game back for Janmark, who was injured in Game 1 against the Los Angeles Kings after blocking a shot off the inside of his foot.
Following the game, which the Oilers lost 6-4, head coach Jay Woodcroft told reporters he had no update on Janmark's condition, but would have one the following day.
