There is not a lot of good news surrounding the Edmonton Oilers these days, but there was at least a hopeful update on superstar Connor McDavid on Thursday.
Oilers head coach Jay Woodcroft provided the update after Thursday's loss to the Rangers.
"He had a good day (skating) today," Woodcroft said. "I wouldn’t rule him out (for Sunday), I’m not ready to say either way. We’ve got time.”
McDavid suffered an upper-body injury on Saturday night against the Winnipeg Jets, which benched him for the final minutes of regulation and overtime. Woodcroft told reporters after the game that the injury seemed, to him, to be more muscular.
The Oilers have now lost both games without McDavid in the lineup and have dropped to a less-than-ideal 1-5-1 record.
You can watch the Oilers take on the Flames in the Heritage Classic on Sunday on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ beginning at 7 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. MT.
