Oilers pull Calvin Pickard after four-goal first period

It was a short night for Edmonton Oilers backup goalie Calvin Pickard — and likely one he wants to forget.

Pickard was replaced between the pipes for the second period after he allowed four goals on 11 shots against the Anaheim Ducks, including two in 12 seconds.

Oilers starter Stuart Skinner entered the game in relief.

Prior to this start, Pickard has been a solid goalie for the Oilers with a .901 save percentage and 2.61 goals-against average in 23 appearances this season.

Despite this, the Oilers have struggled to find consistent goaltending this season and have been linked to reported trade piece John Gibson, whose .911 save percentage is the highest he's owned since the 2018-19 season. The Oilers' team save percentage ranks tied for 16th in the league at .899
