After acquiring Troy Stecher at the trade deadline, the Edmonton Oilers are keeping the 30-year-old defenceman around for two more years.
The team announced Monday that it has re-signed Stecher on a two-year deal which carries a $787,500 average annual value.
Stecher played in seven games with the Oilers after the trade brought him north of the border, recording two assists. He didn't appear in any games during Edmonton's run to the Stanley Cup Final.
An eight-year NHL veteran, Stecher has played with six franchises since debuting in 2016-17. He spent four years playing with the Vancouver Canucks before spending time with the Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, Arizona Coyotes, Calgary Flames and Oilers.
In 494 career games, he has recorded 19 goals and 110 points.
