Oilers sign Derek Ryan to two-year, $1.8M extension

The Edmonton Oilers have signed forward Derek Ryan to a two-year extension with an average annual value of $900,000, the team announced Tuesday.

Ryan, 36, had 13 goals and seven assists for 20 points in 80 games this past season.

The University of Alberta product also made 11 playoff appearances, tallying one goal and a pair of assists.

Ryan has 76 goals and 115 assists for 191 points in 500 career games with the Oilers, Calgary Flames and Carolina Hurricanes.

Ryan broke into the NHL in 2015-16 with Carolina after starting his pro career playing in Europe for four seasons.
