Oilers' Stuart Skinner leaves game against Jets after collision

It's going from bad to worse for the Edmonton Oilers.

Minutes after losing captain Connor McDavid to a lower-body injury and already without leading scorer Leon Draisaitl, the Oilers lost Stuart Skinner from Thursday's game against the Winnipeg Jets after a collision.

Skinner was taken off the ice late in the third period after Jets forward Gabriel Vilardi collided with the goaltender and made contact with his head.

Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch confirmed after the game the concussion spotter made the call.

“I wouldn’t have pulled him, and Stu didn’t want to come out," he said.

Skinner, 26, was appearing in his 47th game this season and had a 23-17-4 record coming into Thursday's game. Prior to his exit, he made 13 saves on 16 shots for a .813 save percentage. On the season, he's posted a .897 save percentage with two shutouts.
