The Edmonton Oilers are shuffling up their defence depth.
In an AHL trade with the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday, the Oilers acquired defenceman Ronnie Attard while sending fellow blue liner Ben Gleason the other way.
Attard, 25, has been held without a point in seven games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms this season. However, the six-foot-three, 208-pound American has racked up 19 penalty minutes.
In 29 career NHL games dating back to the 2021-22 season, all with the Flyers, Attard chipped in two goals and four assists.
Gleason, 26, recorded four points (one goal, three assists) in seven games with the AHL's Bakersfield Condors this season. His lone NHL experience came in the 2018-19 campaign, when he picked up one assist in four contests with the Dallas Stars.
