The Montreal Canadiens acquired defenceman Noel Hoefenmayer from the Edmonton Oilers on Friday in exchange for right wing Jacob Perreault.
Hoefenmayer, who has yet to make his NHL debut, has recorded one goal and six assists in 11 games with the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League this season.
The 25-year-old from Toronto joined the Oilers as a free agent in 2023 and re-signed on a one-year, two-way contract in July. He was drafted in the fourth round, 108th overall, by the Arizona Coyotes in 2017 and spent parts of three seasons with the AHL's Toronto Marlies before joining the Oilers organization.
Perreault had zero points in six games with the AHL's Laval Rocket plus one goal and four assists in five games with the ECHL's Trois-Rivieres Lions.
The 22-year-old from Montreal was drafted in the first round, 27th overall, by the Anaheim Ducks in 2020. He made his NHL debut during the 2021-22 season, appearing in one game with the Ducks.
Anaheim traded Perreault to his hometown club in March for centre Jan Mysak.
