The Edmonton Oilers placed winger Adam Erne on waivers on Monday, a move necessitated by the signing of veteran Corey Perry.
Erne, 28, has a goal and an assist in 23 games this season with the Oilers and a single goal in one game with the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League.
Drafted 33rd overall in 2013 by Tampa Bay, Erne has 41 goals and 91 points in 378 NHL games the Lightning, Red Wings, and Oilers. His one-year NHL contract is worth $775,000 this season.
Perry was signed to a pro-rated $775,000 contract for the remainder of the season. The Oilers currently have $319,265 of cap space, according to CapFriendly.com.
