The Ottawa Senators placed rugged winger Zack MacEwen on waivers on Thursday.
In two games with the Senators, MacEwen had one assist and was plus-1 over an average of 6:38 time on ice.
The Senators signed forward MacEwen to a three-year, $2.325-million contract on July 6.
MacEwen split last season between the Philadelphia Flyers and the Los Angeles Kings, recording four goals and six assists for 10 points in 56 games. He also had one goal and two assists for three points in 10 games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League.
The 27-year-old enforcer from Charlottetown had 28 points (13 goals and 15 assists) and 245 penalty minutes over five NHL seasons with the Vancouver Canucks, Flyers and Kings.
Also placed on waivers Thursday were Jansen Harkins of the Penguins and Radim Simek of the Sharks.
