The Ottawa Senators announced that they had signed defenceman Djibril Touré to a three-year, entry-level contract on Thursday. No terms were disclosed.
The 20-year-old from Dorval, Que., had been on an amateur tryout with the club.
Toure had 16 points — five goals and 11 assists — in 57 games with the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League last season, to go with a team-leading 91 penalty minutes.
Toure split the 2021-22 season between the Central Canada Hockey League’s Carleton Place Canadians and the Hawkesbury Hawks, totalling 14 points (two goals, 12 assists) and 76 penalty minutes over 45 games.
“Djibril’s growth over the last two years has been remarkable,” said Senators general manager Pierre Dorion. “He’s come a long way, from playing in the CCHL as recently as two seasons ago, to earn this contract. He’s a rangy defender who skates well and who has shown consistent improvement in his game.”
