Washington Capitals winger Alex Ovechkin passed a PCR lab test result overnight and will be allowed to return to full activity Tuesday.

The Capitals take on the Columbus Blue Jackets at home Tuesday night, and it is likely that Ovechkin will be cleared to play despite missing practice on Monday awaiting results.

Ovechkin tested positive before the NHL All-Star Game and missed the event where he was slated to be captain of the Metropolitan Division. Fellow Capitals teammate Tom Wilson filled in during his absence.
