Florida Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov was a late scratch ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Chicago Blackhawks with a lower-body injury.
According to Charlie Roumeliotis of NBC Sports Chicago, Barkov left warm-ups early and could be seen talking to trainers.
After the game — a 3-2 Blackhawks win — Panthers head coach Joel Quenneville said Barkov was day-to-day and that the team would learn more about the injury on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old entered play Tuesday tied for eighth in league scoring with 37 points, including 13 goals. In four previous games against the Blackhawks he had three goals and nine points.
Noel Acciari replaced Barkov at centre on the team’s top line between Carter Verhaeghe and Anthony Duclair.
