The night began with the Florida Panthers getting some good injury news. By the end, captain Aleksander Barkov needed to be helped to the room with a knee injury.
Barkov suffered the injury after a knee-on-knee collision with Anaheim Ducks defenceman Jackson LaCombe in the neutral zone early in the third period.
LaCombe was initially called for a five-minute penalty but it was reduced to two minutes for tripping after a video review.
Barkov was in visible pain and didn't return to the game.
Afterwards, head coach Paul Maurice said Barkov would be further evaluated when the team returns to Florida. Friday's game in Anaheim was the final game of a three-game road trip.
The injury comes on the same day the Panthers welcomed top defencemen Aaron Ekblad and Brandon Montour back into the lineup for the first time this season, after the pair recovered from off-season surgeries.
The Panthers won the game 2-1.
