Boston Bruins goalie Joonas Korpisalo is having a tough start to the 2024-25 NHL season.
After conceding his fifth goal of the night in the second period against the Panthers, Florida fans had some fun at the 30-year-old's expense.
As the Bruins worked to chip away at their goal differential, the chant "We want Swayman" filled the arena, referring to the Bruins' all-star starter who was backing up Tuesday.
On Sunday, the Bruins signed Jeremy Swayman to an eight-year, $66 million deal after a summer of contentious negotiations.
As the 25-year-old inked his new contract only days before the start of the NHL regular season, he missed training camp and pre-season games. As he's probably rusty from time off, Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery went with Korpisalo in the opener instead.
Since joining the Bruins in the 2020-21 season, Swayman has recorded a .919 save percentage and 2.34 GAA over 132 career games. Korpisalo, on the other hand, arrived in Boston as part of this summer's Linus Ullmark trade after posting an .890 save percentage in 55 games for the Senators last season.
