The Florida Panthers have recalled goaltender Spencer Knight from the AHL's Charlotte Checkers, the team announced Thursday.
Panthers goaltender Anthony Stolarz exited practice Thursday, but head coach Paul Maurice said the netminder would be fine, according to the Associated Press's Colby Guy.
Knight has spent the entirety of the 2023-24 season with the Checkers, making 45 appearances with a 2.41 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage.
The 23-year-old was just as sharp in his two playoff appearances for the Checkers this season, recording a 1.87 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage.
The Checkers' season ended on April 28 after losing their first-round series 2-1 to the Hartford Wolf Pack. Knight started two games in the series, went 1-1 and finished with a 0.925 save percentage and 1.87 GAA.
After eliminating the Tampa Bay Lightning in five games, the Panthers will face the winner of the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs series in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
