The Florida Panthers, perhaps making a small move to free up salary, have traded Frank Vatrano to the New York Rangers for a 2022 fourth-round pick.

Vatrano, 28, had 10 goals and nine assists for 19 points in 49 games with the Panthers this season. It is the fifth time in his career he has scored at least 10 goals in a season.

In 379 NHL games with the Panthers and Boston Bruins, the East Longmeadow, Mass., native has 93 goals and 64 assists for 157 points.

After going undrafted, Vatrano was originally signed as a free agent by the Bruins on March 13, 2015.
