Pittsburgh Penguins forward Noel Acciari was diagnosed with a concussion after a hit by Winnipeg Jets defenceman Brenden Dillon, head coach Mike Sullivan told reporters.
The former Toronto Maple Leaf sustained the concussion after Dillon hit him in the head with his shoulder late in the second period of Tuesday's 3-0 win for the Penguins. Acciari appeared dazed after the hit and was attended to by medical staff before leaving the ice.
The Jets blueliner was assessed a match penalty on the play and was subsequently handed a three-game suspension by the department of player safety.
Acciari, 32, played for the Maple Leafs last season after he was acquired from the St. Louis Blues along with Ryan O'Reilly. He signed as a free agent in Pittsburgh in the off-season by former Leafs GM Kyle Dubas for three years and $6 million.
