The Pittsburgh Penguins will be without Kris Letang against the Toronto Maple Leafs Saturday night with the defenceman entering the NHL’s COVID-19 protocols.
Head coach Mike Sullivan said that Letang had a positive test but is still in the process of confirmatory tests as part of the league’s protocols. This is to ensure the test is not a false-positive.
Goaltender Tristan Jarry will get the start for the Penguins after having a false-positive test earlier in the week.
The Penguins have been hit hard by injuries to start the season with Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Bryan Rust sidelined. Centre Jeff Carter also remains out of the lineup after testing positive for COVID-19.
Toronto looks to rebound from their 5-3 loss to the San Jose Sharks at home as they make their U.S. road trip since March of 2020. You can watch the game live on Sportsnet and stream on SN NOW starting at 7 p.m. ET.
