Jesse Puljujarvi cleared waivers on Tuesday and is eligible to continue his career in the AHL.
The Pittsburgh Penguins forward has been a healthy scratch since early December and appeared in only 21 games this season.
He has three goals and eight points in those games while averaging just 11:37 minutes of ice time.
The 26-year-old was the fourth-overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft by the Edmonton Oilers and has appeared in 377 NHL games over eight seasons with the Oilers, Hurricanes and Penguins.
Pittsburgh signed him to a two-year, $1.6-million contract in February, which will expire at the end of this season.
