After a series of healthy scratches, Jesse Puljujarvi is going on waivers.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have placed the forward on waivers after missing the team's last nine games, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported Monday.
Puljujarvi hasn't appeared in a game for the Penguins since Dec. 7 against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Should he clear waivers by 2 p.m. ET on Tuesday, the team will be able to re-assign him to the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
The 26-year-old has struggled to produce in his time with the Penguins, tallying three goals and five assists in 21 games this season. He joined the team in free agency on a two-year contract in Feb. 2024, and put up three goals and one assist in 22 games last year.
Selected by the Edmonton Oilers fourth overall in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, the Finnish forward has yet to live up to his billing. His best season came in 2021-22 with the Oilers when he had 14 goals and 22 assists in 65 games while putting up a +22 plus-minus.
The Penguins return to action on Tuesday night against the Detroit Red Wings.
