The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed forward Valtteri Puustinen to a two-year, $1.55 million contract, the team announced Friday.
Puustinen was slated to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
The 24-year-old from Kuopio, Finland, led all Penguins rookies with 20 points (five goals and 15 assists) in 52 games this season.
He also had 13 points (five goals and eight assists) in 24 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.
Puustinen was drafted in the seventh round, 203rd overall, by the Penguins in 2019. He registered an assist during his NHL debut against the Vegas Golden Knights on March 11, 2022.
