A showdown that was postponed due to Hurricane Milton has officially been rescheduled.
The Tampa Bay Lightning's original home opener against the Carolina Hurricanes, which was scheduled for Oct. 12, will now be played on Jan. 7, the league announced Monday.
A pre-season game between the two sides, scheduled for Sep. 27, was also cancelled due to Hurricanes Milton and Helene making landfall in southern Florida.
Ahead of the hurricane's touchdown, the Lightning were forced to evacuate the state and head to Carolina early for their season opener.
The Lightning are currently 9-6-1 and sit third in the Atlantic. Carolina, meanwhile, has the best record in the Eastern Conference at 13-4-0.
