The Nashville Predators continue to add depth on the blue line, signing defenceman Matt Benning to a two-year contract with an average annual value of $1 million, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.
Benning joins Mark Borowiecki as one of Nashville’s newest rearguards.
Benning, 26, has played every NHL game of his four-year career with the Edmonton Oilers before the team decided against giving the restricted free agent a qualifying offer earlier this week, making Benning an unrestricted free agent.
The Edmonton native had a goal and eight points in 43 regular-season games this past season.
