The Nashville Predators and forward Tommy Novak have agreed to a three-year contract extension, taking Novak off the block ahead of the trade deadline.
The contract is worth $10.5 million with a $3.5 million average annual value, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
Novak, 26, is on pace to set new career highs in his third NHL season with 13 goals and 34 points in 51 games as the Predators' third-line centre.
Novak is playing on a one-year, $800,000 contract, which made him attractive to cap-strapped teams ahead of the trade deadline.
However, the Predators have surged into a playoff spot with an eight-game winning streak, seemingly taking them off the sellers market ahead of Friday's trade deadline.
The Predators enter play Monday in the second wild-card spot with 72 points.
