The New York Rangers have added Igor Shesterkin to the league's COVID-19 protocol, sidelining him from Thursday's game against the Vegas Golden Knights just moments before the puck was slated to drop.

In a corresponding move, the Rangers recalled Keith Kinkaid from their taxi squad.

The team did not immediately say if Shesterkin tested positive for the virus, or if he entered the protocols as a close contact of someone who did. The Rangers did not announce any other additions or subtractions from their list of members on the protocol list.

Shesterkin is in the midst of a stellar campaign with New York, picking up 15 wins in the 20 games he has started. He has a 2.09 goals-against average and .936 save percentage, too, as well as two shutouts.

The Rangers' game against the Golden Knights can be seen live on Sportsnet, starting at 10 p.m. ET.
