The New York Rangers and goaltender Jonathan Quick have agreed to a one-year, $1.275 million contract extension.
Quick joined the Rangers as a free agent this off-season and has fit in seamlessly behind Igor Shesterkin. In 21 games this season, the 38-year-old has a 13-5-2 record with a 2.45 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage.
The Rangers backup ranks sixth among goaltenders who have played 20 or more games in both goals-against average and save percentage. He will earn a raise on the $825,000 salary he is making this season.
Quick joined the Rangers after splitting last season with the Los Angeles Kings and Vegas Golden Knights. In 774 career games (760 starts) over 17 seasons with the Rangers, Golden Knights and Kings, Quick has a 388-282-86 record, a career 2.47 goals against average and a .911 save percentage.
He is a three-time Stanley Cup champion, twice named a Vezina Trophy finalist and awarded the William M. Jennings Trophy twice.
