New York Rangers forward Pavel Buchnevich has been suspended one game for high-sticking Washington Capitals’ Anthony Mantha on Wednesday night.
The incident took place during the second period of Wednesday’s fight-filled game between the Rangers and Capitals.
A hit from Buchnevich on Mantha along the wall in that second frame was followed by a series of slashes from the Capitals forward, who skated away and eventually doubled back to Buchnevich, at which time the Rangers forward caught Mantha with a cross-check to the face.
Buchnevich received a major penalty and a misconduct as a result of the high crosscheck.
