New York Rangers coach Gerard Gallant issued a warning to the Carolina Hurricanes after Max Domi took a shot at Ryan Lindgren in the dying seconds of Game 3 of their Eastern Conference semifinal on Sunday.
“I wasn’t happy with the bullshit at the end of the game that they initiated," Gallant said. "We didn’t do that when the games were close ... If they want to play like that, we’ve got the guys that can match them.”
Domi whacked Lindgren in the back with his stick as time ticked down in the Rangers' 3-1 win, cutting Carolina's lead in the series to 2-1.
The two had to be separated by officials after they tussled following the final buzzer.
Gallant exchanged words with the Hurricanes bench after the buzzer.
When asked if the Hurricanes were sending a message, Gallant said "They’re not sending any message. We’ve got the guy that can handle all their guys if we want to and we didn't do it like that. Domi took a cheap shot at our defenceman."
