The New York Rangers have locked up a key piece of their future by agreeing to a four-year extension with centre Filip Chytil.
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports the contract is worth $4.375 million per season.
Chytil, 23, is in the midst of a career year with 22 goals and 42 points in 66 games this season. In 319 games over the past six seasons, Chytil has 64 goals and 135 points — with an additional nine points in 23 playoff games.
Chytil was one of three key restricted free agents on the Rangers roster. Now the team will turn attention to Alexis Lafreniere and K'Andre Miller to try and agree to new contracts.
The Rangers made some aggressive moves ahead of the trade deadline by acquiring Vladimir Taresnko and Patrick Kane to try to improve on last season's appearance in the Eastern Conference Final.
