The Vancouver Canucks have announced their roster for the upcoming Young Stars Classic taking place in Penticton, B.C., from Sept. 15-18.
The tournament will see this roster take on prospects from the Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames and Winnipeg Jets.
Headlining the roster are Aatu Raty, Aiden McDonough and Akito Hirose, all of whom saw NHL action last season with the Canucks.
Raty, acquired in the trade that sent former captain Bo Horvat to the New York Islanders, dressed in three games with the Canucks before being sent to AHL Abbotsford to continue developing. The former second round pick has scored two NHL goals throughout his career.
Both Akito Hirose and Aidan McDonough appeared in their NHL debut last season, skating in seven and six games, respectively.
Notably missing from the roster are the Canucks' two most recent first round draft picks, Tom Willander and Jonathan Lekkerimaki, both of whom participated in development camp in July. Also missing is defence prospect Elias Pettersson.
