A trade between the Detroit Red Wings and Philadelphia Flyers involving James van Riemsdyk has fallen apart, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports.
Friedman had initially reported van Riemsdyk, one of the top remaining forwards on the trade block, was going to Detroit.
Ultimately, the Flyers chose to keep van Riemsdyk instead of trading him.
The 33-year-old has seen his offensive numbers drop this season, with just nine goals and 23 points in 41 games. He missed the entire month of November while recovering from a broken finger.
The 14-year veteran has 297 goals and 585 points in 920 games with the Flyers and Maple Leafs.
