As the Detroit Red Wings make a push to return to the playoffs, they'll need to do so without their captain and best player.
Captain Dylan Larkin will miss approximately two weeks with a lower-body injury, head coach Derek Lalonde announced Monday.
It's unclear when Larkin was injured. He skated over 17 minutes in Saturday's loss to the Florida Panthers.
Larkin leads the Red Wings in both goals (26) and points (54). Detroit currently holds the first wild-card spot in the East with 72 points and is trying to make the playoffs for the first time in eight years.
The Red Wings begin a four-game road trip Wednesday in Denver against the Colorado Avalanche.
