Detroit Red Wings defenceman Jake Walman exited and will not return to Friday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs in Sweden after stumbling and crashing into the net, the team announced
On a play deep in the Red Wings end, while scrambling for positioning as the Leafs took possession behind the net, Walman stumbled on his own and fell, face-first, into the side of the net.
The collision knocked the net off its moorings just as Leafs forward Mitch Marner was shooting. A subsequent goal review ruled there was no goal on the play.
Walman left the ice on his feet but bent over while being assisted by teammates.
