It doesn't sound like the Simon Edvinsson situation is going to be solved in the near future.
Red Wings interim GM Shawn Horcoff told Detroit reporters he has "zero interest in trading Simon Edvinsson" on Wednesday, per Max Bultman of The Athletic.
Horcoff added he wants to sign Edvinsson.
Edvinsson, a restricted free agent, has not played for Detroit this season as he is without a contract.
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported earlier this month that Edvinsson would prefer a trade.
The six-foot-six, left-shot defenceman was drafted sixth overall by the Red Wings in 2021 and had 25 points (nine goals, 16 assists) during his second full NHL season in 2025-26.
The Red Wings are mired in a decade-long playoff drought — the longest active streak in the NHL.
Horcoff also said nothing has changed with Dylan Larkin's situation.
Larkin requested a trade earlier this summer. Larkin is playing for the Red Wings, though he was stripped of his captaincy.
Horcoff was meeting with the media after the Red Wings signed Alex DeBrincat to a seven-year extension with an average annual value of $13 million on Wednesday.
