Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Kane exited Sunday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs early in the first period with a lower-body injury.
Kane appeared to be injured after he was on the receiving end of two hits by Pontus Holmberg on the same shift.
Kane, 35, entered the night with seven goals and nine assists for 16 points in 18 games for the Red Wings this season.
The nine-time All-Star signed a one-year, $2.75 million contract with the Red Wings on Nov. 28, reuniting him with former Chicago Blackhawks teammate Alex DeBrincat.
Kane underwent surgery on his hip during the off-season, but Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported during the second intermission that it doesn't sound like a hip injury this time.
